What We Repair After Water Gets Into a Port St. Lucie Home

Floodwater in a slab home does the same damage almost every time. Here is what we fix, in the order it usually needs to happen.

Flooring Removal and Replacement

Laminate and engineered wood swell and delaminate within days of getting wet and have to come out. Luxury vinyl plank and tile usually survive the water but not what is under them. We remove what is ruined, dry-check the slab, and install waterproof luxury vinyl plank or porcelain tile built for Florida. See our flooring installation page.

Drywall, Baseboards, and Trim

Drywall wicks water up from the floor. The standard repair is a flood cut 12 to 24 inches above the water line, new drywall, tape, texture, paint, and new baseboards. We do it room by room so the house stays livable.

Kitchen Cabinets and Sink Bases

Particleboard cabinet boxes that sat in water are done; the toe kicks and sink base go first. We assess every box, reface or replace, and keep the countertops where the footprint allows. See our kitchen cabinets page and our cabinet refacing vs replacement cost guide.

Bathroom Vanities and Tile

Vanities, tub surrounds, and tile base trim take water the same way cabinets do. We replace vanities and repair or rebuild the bathroom, with waterproofing done to code. See our bathroom remodeling page.

What a rebuilt bathroom looks like when it is done right. Vanities and tile base trim take the water first. We replace the vanity, repair or retile to the water line, and put down waterproof luxury vinyl plank or porcelain tile over a dry-checked slab, so the next time water gets in, the floor survives it. See our bathroom remodeling and luxury vinyl plank installation pages.

replacement kitchen cabinets in stock at the Elite showroom in Port St. Lucie FL

Replacement cabinets without the lead time. We stock ready-to-assemble cabinet lines at our Port St. Lucie showroom, which matters right now: a flood-damaged kitchen does not have six to twelve weeks to wait on a factory order. You can see the door styles in person and we can have boxes on site in days. See our showroom page.

One honest note on scope. We are the repair and rebuild contractor. If your home still has standing water or wet materials, the first call is a water extraction and drying company so the slab and walls are dry before anything new goes in. We will tell you if your home is not ready yet, and we can start the moment it is.

Frequently Asked Questions About Flood Damage Repair in Port St. Lucie

Does homeowners insurance cover the flooding in Port St. Lucie?

It depends on the policy. Standard homeowners insurance usually does not cover rising water from outside; that is flood insurance, through the NFIP or a private carrier. Water that came in through the roof, a window, or a backed-up drain is sometimes covered under the homeowners policy. Call your agent first, then call us. Our written estimate and photos work for either claim.

How soon do water-damaged floors and drywall need to come out?

Within days. Laminate and engineered wood start to swell within 24 to 48 hours, and wet drywall and baseboards behind them hold moisture against the slab. The faster the wet material comes out, the less you lose. We are scheduling inspections in the flooded neighborhoods now.

Can you repair just the damaged rooms or does the whole house need redoing?

Just the damaged rooms. We repair to the water line and match what is there where we can. Many homeowners use the repair as the moment to replace laminate with waterproof luxury vinyl plank throughout, but that is your choice, not a requirement.

Do you work with my insurance adjuster?

Yes. We provide an itemized written estimate, photos, measurements, and our license and insurance certificates, and we will meet the adjuster at the house. We are not a public adjuster and do not negotiate your claim; we document the work so you can.

Do you do water extraction or mold remediation?

No. We are the repair and rebuild contractor. If your home still has standing water or wet materials, a water extraction and drying company comes first. Once the home is dry, we handle everything from demo through the finished rebuild.

Which Port St. Lucie neighborhoods are you serving first?

St. Lucie West, Tradition, Torino, the NW California and Peacock area, SW Airoso, SE Thornhill, Creekside, and the Port St. Lucie Boulevard corridor, where the City and police reported flooding in homes. We serve all of Port St. Lucie and St. Lucie County, so call even if your street is not listed.
